Position Summary and Objective
Global Guardian is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Director, Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) for a client in McLean, VA. This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the GSOC, ensuring 24/7 coverage and response capabilities. This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of industry best practices as it relates to customer service, alarm response and video review, threat intelligence, travel safety and security, emergency management, and escalations. The GSOC Director will lead a team of analysts and supervisors to maintain the highest standards of preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities across all regions. This position will act as a trusted and respected member of the GSOC during crisis scenarios.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide centralized monitoring of critical events (natural disasters, civil unrest, cyber threats), ensuring rapid outreach to impacted personnel and stakeholders.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), ensuring 24/7 coverage and response capabilities.
- Monitor and analyze threat intelligence reports to proactively identify emerging threats and provide timely discussion points to relevant stakeholders.
- Directs the team to promptly and effectively engage security incidents or emergencies, providing immediate support to physical security teams as needed, with escalations to stakeholders.
- Conduct training for GSOC staff to ensure readiness and proficiency with security systems, protocols, procedures, system guides, tools, and resources.
- Design, implement, and participate in drills and exercises devised to enhance operational readiness.
- Act as a trusted partner to external business units, while acting as a strong representative during incident management activations.
- Regularly evaluate the ability of the GSOC to meet the needs of global stakeholders, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and resilience of the GSOC.
- Support the development and implementation of security policies, protocols, procedures, and tools, ensuring they are understood and followed by all staff.
- Work closely with our overseas partner SOC to ensure alignment with regional responsibilities and systems support as well as intra-team support.
- Prepare, maintain, and present high level reports on security operations, incidents, alarms, deliverables, and trends to the leadership team for review and strategic decision-making.
- Conduct predictive and real-time analytical assessments to identify and manage security, safety, and product-related risks; issue real-time threat alerts to support informed decision-making and incident reduction.
- Monitor and track mission-critical operations and employee locations in real time, ensuring team safety and swift adaptation to evolving threats or logistical changes.
- Evaluate flight patterns, hotel locations, high-risk destinations, and transportation options to provide travelers with safer choices and risk-reduction strategies.
- Dispatch security officers, facilities, and on-site EMS personnel as required via telephone and/or radio during security or medical incidents.
- Utilize mass communication systems to deliver urgent messages to the Crisis Management Team and operational leaders, adhering to established protocols.
- Respond, compile and report all information regarding thefts, alarms, accidents and other incidents that may occur during course of duty.
- Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), escalating threat detections of, while maintaining meticulous alarm tracking records.
- Escalate without delay, complaints, critical event information to shift supervisor, Site Ops Manager and the GSOC manager.
- Foster relationships with third-party security providers, law enforcement, and emergency services to enable coordinated crisis response.
- Provide limited access badge support which may include operating digital camera equipment, badge printer, coordination of badge activation and distribution of new and or replacement badges.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Five to seven years of global security, surveillance, and counter-surveillance operations experience, or a related field.
- Senior-level experience working in a GSOC.
- Experienced in use of OSINT intelligence and investigative tools.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree preferred.
- Crisis management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated personal and physical security management experience.
- Analytical and data manipulation experience, using data quickly to make decisions.
- Exceptional vigilance and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make decisive, well-informed decisions.
- Proven capability in handling high-stress situations and de-escalating conflicts.
- Emotional intelligence and awareness to handle high stress situations with candor.
